    Age

17 years old. 18 on the 16th March.

    Education

I attend the Oakland’s Sports Academy in St Albans, where I'm studying for a National Diploma in Sport. It's fantastic as the college is highly supportive of young people's sporting dreams. Read more....

    My History

When I was little I started having adventures with my parents exploring on foot the hills and mountains of the Lake District, Peak District and Brecon Beacons. I had my first pair of skis when I was 5 and I put them on and whizzed off down the slopes! I started sailing at the age of seven and have never looked back.

In 2007, at the age of fourteen I became the youngest person to ever sail across the Atlantic single-handed.

In 2009 on the 27th August I became the youngest person to sail single-handed around the world.

    Hobbies

Besides sailing, I do rather like most water sports including canoeing, water skiing and wind surfing, as well as biking, skiing and mountaineering.

    Family
My family includes my dad Peter, my mum Heather and my older sister Fiona.

    Mike's Plans

One of my favorite catchphrases is that "you are only as big as the dreams you dare to live". Hopefully, through my adventures I will be able to inspire other young people to get out there and live their dreams.
